Requiem mass

Solemn Requiem Mass for past benefactors and patrons of the St Birinus Festival. The celebrant will be Fr John Osman, parish priest of St Birinus Catholic Church. After Mass, there will be sung blessing of the catafalque, representing the souls of the faithful departed.

Ryan Wigglesworth will direct the combines choirs of The Southwell Consort and the Davey Consort, as well as the early instruments of the Guerrero Baroque Collective. The music will include Portuguese Composer Manuel Cardoso’s Missa pro defunctis in six parts and motets by Alonso Lobo and Bernardino de Ribera.
